Objectives

Inside LINK-2 project (MURST co-financed), PERCRO (PERCeptual RObotics) and Piaggio S.p.A. have developed a Virtual Prototyping System characterized by:

  • two distinct configurations
  • an integrated virtual environment (exploiting same hardware devices)

-Interactive 3D Visualization System (IVS) to increase assembly quality (3D stereoscopic visualization of the vehicle assembly CAD model) -Advanced Ergonomic Simulator (AES) to increase driving seat ergonomics (immersive 3D stereoscopic visualization of the driving seat of a Power Two Wheeler based on a reconfigurable real mock-up)

Main Results

  • Scientific results:

-Demonstrators: the pre-final system has been used also to test some advanced interaction features gesture-based which was used at PERCRO to carry on several experiments.

  • Material results:

-Prototype: a fully working version of the system has been realized and it is going to be used at PIAGGIO to test its features with a large database of motorcycle CAD models.
