Main Results
- Material results:
- Prototype: Force Feedback supported fitting and built-in simulation. For the first prototype, methods and processes were derived and implemented for the virtual handling of flexible parts such as hydraulic lines, hose or other flexible materials in context of their assembly and disassembly or their connection. The prototype developed is comprised of the following components:
- Kinesthetic force reflection interface
- Scene Modeller
- VR Simulator
The solution was integrated into a virtual environment for the three dimensional visualisation of the hose and the simulation of the forces acting on the system.

Comments
based on two phantom lightweight actuators a new kinesthetic force feedback system has been developed. in the new system two actuators augment an effector with weight, inertia, application forces and torques. depending from the purpose of an application, the effector can be replaced e.g. by medical instruments for virtual surgery simulations or by technical components to execute fitting and build-in simulations. to the three translational output degrees coming with a genuine phantom device, the new system provides additional three rotational dof. unencumbered from the system friction or unbalanced loads, this solution allows the user to percept collisions coming from the application with a dramatic improvement of accuracy and realism. by consideration of the three rotational degrees of freedom vr simulations feel fundamentally more realistic for the user now. according to the new system, also a software driver has been developed.
