Objectives
I high percentage of people with autism shows difficulties in understanding imagination. When the mother or the teacher says, for example, ‘look how the spoon is transformed into a plane’ they seem indifferent and seem not understanding and interiorising this kind of imaginary transformations. Whit the help of Virtual Reality it is possible to recreate explicitly this kind of transformation. Within this research line educational exercises orientated towards this aim are developed and experimentally assessed. We already have created and distributed the educational tool (Spanish version) named ‘I am going to act as if...’ for which we have received more than 1200 requests from centres and professionals dedicated to autism and from autonomic governments.
