Objectives

The main objective is the development of a virtual hand which is:

  • biomechanically similar to a human one (same degrees of freedom and limits);
  • actuated via tendon by muscles models (Hill, Zajac,...);

o these two points are studied in collaboration with biomecanicians;

  • able of plastic deformation, when in contact with its environnement;
  • able of reflex control and strategies, when grasping and manipulating;

o this central item is considered in collaborations with neurophysiologists and psychologists;

  • easy to interactivally control by an operator.

  • Scientific results:

-PhD thesis -In progress: Mathieu ROUGERON: “Virtual Human: modelization of reflex neuro-mimetic control strategies for objects grasping and manipulation” (2004-2006).

-In progress: Mamy POULIQUEN: “Virtual Human: a real-time virtual hand deformation model interacting with its environment” (2003-2005).
