Objectives
The objective of the Geoindex project is to conduct a feasibility study for the development of a PC-based system for visualising and accessing information in existing databases that can be geo-referenced. Data search and access is by means of a 3D flyer which combines various forms of geographic information with 3D real-time graphics, to allow the production of realistic flyovers of any geographical area on PC computational platforms. The scope of the ESPRIT funding was to fully design the system and study its possible applications and market. In addition, a pilot version of the system has been developed for demonstration purposes.
